The complete guide to the popular Pocket Gems game made for the iPhone/iPod Touch
Making BabiesOnce you have two animals of the same species you can now start breeding them in the nursery. The funny thing is, nursing animals takes longer than purchasing them and it costs about the same when paid in coins. The only benefit to nursing is if you're nursing animals that are purchased with stars, in which case you only have to spend 1 star each time you breed the animal.
Tip: Since breeding animals takes time, breed only those that have the highest return in revenue. Check the Animal Chart to determine which animal results in higher revenues or experience.
When you first start the game, there is only 1 nest, subsequent nests require you to purchase them with stars. This will enable you to breed 2, 3 or up to 8 animals at a time.
| Nest | Cost |
| 1st Nest | 100 Coins |
| 2nd Nest | 499 Stars |
| 3rd Nest | 499 Stars |
| 4th Nest | 499 Stars |
| 5th Nest | 499 Stars |
| 6th Nest | 499 Stars |
| 7th Nest | 499 Stars |
| 8th Nest | 499 Stars |
Crossbred animals can be nursed in the same way purchased animals are nursed. In fact, after you have crossbred two animals of the same species, you will not be able to cross-breed them anymore. You will need to breed them in the nursery to get more.
Tap Zoo limits the number of animals per species to 4. 2 are either purchased or cross-bred, the other two must be bred in the nursery. I wish I could breed 20 Koalas or Peacocks.
