The complete guide to the popular Pocket Gems game made for the iPhone/iPod Touch
Making FriendsOne of the best things you can do early in the game is make friends. By registerting your Facebook account in the game, you can connect to other friends playing Tap Zoo or invite them to play. The game calls your friends neighbors.
Having friends in the game is not only a nice to have, it is required. You are restricted to acquire some items if you do not have a minimum number of neighbors. One item actually requires you to have 12 neighbors who play the game. "I can't possibly get 12 friends on my Facebook account to play the game!", you might say. Well the tip below will help you get friends.
Tip: Make friends through the Tap Zoo Facebook page. You can either request to be friends with other Facebook user's who have posted that they're looking for friends, or you can post a comment yourself that you're looking for friends playing Tap Zoo and to add you as a friend. You should get requests over of the next couple of days. I only posted once which generated 15 requests.
What if you don't want to add complete strangers to your Facebook page? The only suggestion I have is to create a separate Facebook account specifically for Tap Zoo. That way you can keep your Tap Zoo friends separate from your real life friends.
Tip: Do you just need a few more coins to get that next animal or a few more experience points to level up? Healing your neighbors animals or picking up their trash will help you get you there. The coins collected from neighbors trash and healing their animals increase as you level up. It almost feels like stealing if you pick up your neighbors trash for over 1,000 coins each (~level 18).
This is my current running list of items that will require that you have friends to acquire it:
